Rebates Explained

Rebates are a great way to get items for less and deep discounts. Combined with couponing and you can really maximize your savings.

My husband does rebates at Menards all the time.  I think we are still spending the same $20 we used last year. Ok, I’m over exaggerating, but he brings the rebates home all the time. If you don’t have a Menards in your area, it is like Lowes or Home Depot.  They offer rebates in the form of store credit. You get the forms at the store service counter and fill them out with a portion of your receipt.

Rite Aid offers rebates too.  One thing that is different is that you can only submit one rebate per month, so you have to hold on to all the receipts until you are sure you are done shopping for rebates. You will need to have a Rite Aid Wellness card.  You can submit the rebates online or mail them in.  Rebates come in the form of a check in about 2 weeks.

Office Max has a simple way to get rebates.  You need to have their MaxPerks card and have it scanned (or your phone number looked up) and the rebate comes a few months later, in the form of store credit.  They have a lot of great savings right before school, to get rebates on paper, pens, backpacks (they have .01 backpacks with rebates right before school).

Staples has easy rebates that come as checks you can cash.  You will need to have their Staples Rewards card to take advantage of these rebates.  During back to school time, they have lots of great deals to take advantage of.

On top of that, if you use Ebates, you can shop online with stores and earn a percentage back on a purchase you were already going to do. It doesn’t cost anything to sign up.

The most important thing you need to do with the rebates, is submit the rebates the same day you get them (except for Rite Aid, store those in a visible place).  There is less likely chance you will forget mailing them out and get the rebates you counted on. You’ll be well on your way to savings.

  2. We do have rebate cards over here in Singapore. Most of the time I use the points accumulated to offset the prices of the grocery purchases.

  3. I rebate mainly at Staples and Rite Aid. It’s such a good deal! I’m hoping Staples does their free backpack rebate again this year because I don’t live near an Office Max

    • Hezzi, you could go online to officemax.com and order the back packs (not sure about this week or not), and if you spent $50, there was free shipping. Just giving you options :)

  4. That is the thing I do wrong. I always procrastinate and forget to the send them in. Thanks for the tips on the store that offer them. I had no idea.

    • You are welcome. I have to force myself to do them within a set period of time too Deb. I lost a rebate for a week and was devastated. I found it, so now I try to do them soon after I bring them home.

  5. Oooh love rebating… I use Ebates as well. Nice little bonus ever three months…

  6. I am so bad about rebates. I get the items, send them in, and then always forget to deposit the check. I just rarely ever go to the bank anymore. I have found that Staples is amazing with rebates though! I know I saved a ton of money when I was teaching getting supplies there.

  7. We don’t have many rebates in Canada but I love getting them. Thanks for sharing with us on No Ordinary Blog Hop. Every blessing, Kelly
