We had a ton of technological problems Tuesday, that stressed me to my limits.
My Smartphone, wasn’t so smart today and I had to reset it factory settings (a.k.a. let’s see if you can remember how you had it set up). About 2 hours that I will never get back of my life. Missed customer calls.
The internet went down along with the cable. Not usually a big deal, but it’s the Olympics and a local girl is competing, so we wanted it working so we could see her compete. 1/2 hour of the kids screaming because they wouldn’t go outside but it came back up.
We bought a new router and my ‘Magic phone’ has stopped working and I can’t figure out why (could need a genie in a bottle).
All this fuss with technology makes me consider being Amish. No disrespect at all, I live near an Amish community and know Amish families. They just don’t have to worry about TV, cell phones, and the internet. It’s a simpler life that I greatly respect them for.
I sometimes wonder what it would be like to live the time Laura Ingalls Wilder did (ya know from Little House on the Prairie). I think think of all the hardship that everyone went through and no running water, no inside bathroom, warm showers or baths, grinding their own flour, skinning their own meat.
Reality sets in and I calm down.
I just want the 80′s back.
The 1980′s that is.
Corded phones.
Tape recorder.
Bunny ears on my T.V.

I can understand that!

I always say, technology is bittersweet! When it’s handy you love it, but when it’s not working, it’s a pain in the butt lol

Good point Brandi. It’s a love-hate relationship.

I hadn’t thought about the no blogging point, but I think I’d be to busy forging and surviving to worry about my blog. lol.

I completely understand that. We were with out power for three days last week because of storms and it is scary how dependent we are on technology. We also have a lot of Amish in our community and I feel how you do, all the way to the hardships and reality setting in. I’ll take the 80′s back.

Oh wow, 3 days is a long time to be without power. Amish homes are much like ours, I should add. They run off of propane instead of electricity. Which may be smarter since we loose electricity and they wouldn’t. Thanks for sharing, see you in the 80s!

It really is crazy how dependent we are on technology isn’t it? When we arrived in Florida, we didn’t have wi-fi set up for a few days…honestly, it was kind of nice!

I get it, but I do love the power of technology…just not ALL the connectedness!
Can’t live without it, but I’m sure we could if we had to.

Nooooooo…the bunny ears used to give me such turmoil! I remember having to stand at the tv to hold the bunny ears to get in “One Day at a Time,” which was a show I just didn’t want to miss. How hilarious, I haven’t thought of that in years.
Technology is nice, but you’re right, it’s nice to unplug now and then too, for sure.
I remember when we had fewer shows and they were more quality. Now there is so much junk on t.v. it’s hard to divert your eyes!

I agree! Corded phones were much easier to use, and very rarely was there downtime. Life was simpler back in those days. I could do without the bunny ears, though.

Definitely! It’s so expensive too! What happened to my $15 a month phone bill? I don’t know if I can go back though. Addiction sucks. I found you on fb, Bloggers Resources & Opps. Love this post!

I think its good to sometime just get away from all of it and take a trip out into nature. I am starting to have my fill of technology. My husband is a computer engineer and he is OBSESSED with technology. I don’t even know how to turn on our TV with everything he has wired back there!

My husband wired our house and I’m not sure I could navigate it. I got a new router and messed up somethings up, I think. I should take a picture of the mess we have of wires that I try to muddle through. I feel your pain!
