This makes a great teachers gift, mother’s day gift and even a great display for a wedding or bridal shower.
Wouldn’t your BFF think you were just super creative if you gave one to her?
What you’ll need:
- Flower pot (we painted ours red)
- 1/2 circle of foam that will fit inside the flower pot
- Buttons assorted sizes, shapes (and even flower shaped if you want)
- Wire (we used 16 gauge, you could use thicker)
- scissors or wire cutters
You will want to cut a small piece of wire about 4-6 inches long, longer if you want longer stems on the flowers.
You will fold the wire in half (like a U).
Select 3-4 buttons (or more if you want to make bigger flowers).
Take the wire and the smallest of the buttons and place the wire through the two holes so the good side is out.
Repeat until the desired number of buttons are on the flower. Then twist the wire to keep the buttons in place. Twist until the rest of the wire is twisted (This is the stem of the flower).
You can then put the foam into the pot and the flower into the foam.
Once you have the desired number of button flowers created, you are done (varies based on the size of your pot).
My kids spent a few nights working on their button flower projects as we gave them as teacher gifts for Valentines Day. It was unique, different and not candy.

great project to do with your kids
I think so too Denise!. We had a ball doing it!
These are really cute! I bet my girls would love to do these. I’ll have to start collecting buttons.
I got buttons at Walmart and Michaels. It would take me forever to collect all that we used.
there’s a great idea for a huge button collection like my mother had… thanks for the idea
You are welcome! I hope you enjoy making these flowers.

This is a really adorable project you have here! The buttons you used are so cute. I hope i can find something like that.
We got the flower ones at Walmart along with some of the very colorful ones. The rest were in a big container we got at Michaels. They were pretty reasonably priced and if you have a 40-50% off coupon at Michaels, even better!

I’m sure they could be made into pins too Karren, but that would cause some thinking on my part or to watch someone do it first to tackle it!
